Attitude

Ben seems to have developed opinions about what he wears and when he wears it. This is problematic in my mind since I'm kind of a control freak. I mean, I knew the day would come when my kid was not going to be cool with letting me dress him, but I thought I had more time.

At present he is particularly enamored with this lovely hat. I'm actually okay with this one.

The hat that is. I'm not so cool with the binky, but I'm picking my battles at the moment.

However, this wardrobe selection is another story.

Ben absolutely INSISTED on wearing his dinosaur jammies all day the other day. ALL DAY. Like, he hit the roof when I tried to change his clothes. So ultimately, he won. It was a sad day for me.

It was also a cold day so I managed to get some baby legs on him. Socks were another battle, but I managed to show him who was boss on that one.

I think on some level he knew he looked like a baby fool.

Stubborn child. I wonder where he gets that from . . .

Que Benção!

Well, we blessed little Davie. He wore the same blessing outfit Ben did (handcrafted by my mom). He's a serious cutie and a serious fuzz-head. We love him.

And we love his little clown feet.

This little guy isn't so bad either--even though he was less than cooperative that morning.

Birthday bash

Ben turned 2 a few weeks ago. It was perfect weather that day and Ben, I think, enjoyed the festivities.

He was a little uncertain about all the attention he was paid before cutting the cake.

But he got over it and dug in.

He also had quite the haul when it came time to open presents.

I think Lizzy was feeling a little left out.

Good thing her birthday isn't far behind Ben's.

And it's definitely going to be a while before Ben can ride that bike unassisted. His 2 year well check confirmed that he's a serious shorty--3d percentile for height and weight. At least he's proportionate.

David's Blessing

We will be blessing David on Sunday, March 29. Friends and family are invited to attend and stay for brunch after our sacrament meeting (our meeting is at 9:00 a.m.). Please leave us a comment if you need directions to our chapel and we'll email them to you.

Here are a couple of pictures of Davie after his bath this morning. They are posted largely for my mom's benefit, but everyone can feel free to enjoy ;)

Beatiful boy

We were lucky enough to have Brooke take some newborn pictures of David. They turned out amazing so I had to steal some from her blog to post here. Thanks again Brooke--we love them.

A couple of cuties

I'm convinced that David (or Davie as we are calling him) is a little clone of Ben. If we were going to have a repeat performance, Ben's not a bad kid to copy. Take a look at these two and tell me if you can figure out who's who.

Safe to say, Cam and I know how to make a cute kid.

Little man

Short story: David Steven made his appearance at 11:50 a.m. He weighs 6 lbs 6 oz, is 18 in. long, and has TONS of black hair. Ben is clearly thrilled.

Longer story: We went in this morning for our scheduled induction. Good thing too, since apparently I'm not very good about being able to tell when I'm in labor. I was almost dilated to a 5 and mostly effaced. Apparently, I was uncomfortable for a reason. Go figure. We only needed a little prompting from some pitocin and some help breaking my water and we were well on our way to having a baby. Start to finish the whole thing took less than 4 hours. It was such a different experience from Ben.

We walked in the hospital this morning without a name and after looking at that dark head of hair, Cam thought it appropriate to name this little guy after his grandpas--so David Steven it is.

He's been a great eater and a good little guy during the first few hours of his life. We're totally smitten with him.
