Vinyard Vacay

So...my luggage got lost by the airline (sidenote: Boston Logan is the WORST airport for loosing luggage, I know at least 2 other people who've lost stuff there, so in the words of my union friends "Shame on Boston Logan Airport, Buyer Beware" And, in general everyone should get a permanent luggage tag and don't use the little flimsy cardboard ones they give you at the airport because they rip off easily in transit). I was dumb enough to put my camera in my checked luggage this time. Based on past experience, we knew that traveling with Ben adds extra complications at the security line with strollers, diaper bags etc., so we wanted to simplify the number of things that had to be taken out, run through the x-ray, checked, unpacked re-packed etc. The crappiest part of the whole deal (besides having to spend money on socks and underwear instead of fun things) is that going back to film (via a disposable camera) really sucks because you are so limited on how many pictures you can take. I've been trying to take pictures of cool New England architecture and Leslie has been on my case to save the film to take pictures of Ben...

What this means for y'all is that you will have to wait until we get back and get the film from our Kodak fun-saver developed and converted to digital (cuz who really does prints anymore unless they are really, really good?).
But..for the two of you who are just Jonesin' for an update about the Va-cay, you can check Brooke and Dustin's blog for the latest and greatest.

Suggestions?

There was a time in my life when I was an avid reader. Unfortunately, most of the reading I've done over the last few years has been case law, statutes, and law review articles. Yuck. Now that I have some more free time (I hope) on my hands, I'd like to spend more time reading instead of seeking diversion in the form of TV or surfing the internet. What is everyone else reading (besides the Twilight books)? Anyone have some suggestions for me?

Finally

So we decided that since we closed on this house in March, that we should probably move in to it since we were paying the mortgage and all. It's a great time of year in Daybreak, our park is in full bloom, and they added in some extra trees which make for a great spot. We are still mostly living out of boxes and are still awaiting Leslie's prized sofa, so the place hasn't really come together on the inside yet, stay tuned for interior pics to come.... My Dad came and helped finish off the bathroom and put lights up. (PS-If anyone is in the market for some stylin' builder grade flush mounts we've got a box full of them in the basement as well as a lovely chandelier, but you must act fast because they are going, going....)

Here's the park entry, our house is the blue one.

More park with Temple View in the upper left. They put the Angel Moroni on about a month ago, and they are putting the granite on the exterior, so it's coming along but slowly.

Life goes on

At the risk of sounding melodramatic, I'm gonna have to say that this past month has been about the most stressful one in my life. First off, under the best of circumstances, preparing for the bar exam is enough to ruin just about anyone's summer. Throw in a one-year-old and and unexpected pregnancy and you're really in for a treat.

"Pregnancy?" you query. Why yes. I discovered I was pregnant the month before the the bar and morning sickness soon set in with a vengeance. Rather than studying intently, I spent the month before the bar puking and lamenting my state. Alice made it her mission to keep me hydrated at the very least and it is thanks to her, and a bunch of IVs, that I was even physically able to show up for the exam. Ugh. I'm not terribly optimistic about what the outcome will be, but it is over (for now).

Moving on to our little surprise, Cam and I went to the doctor yesterday. On a side note, it's amazing that a grown man can revert to a 12-year-old boy the second he walks into the OB's office. I about kicked him out of the room when he started playing with the stirrup cozies. (Um, yes. There are stirrup cozies on the exam tables. Don't ask me what entrepreneurial grandmother thought there was a market for such things.) Anyway, after two hours in the waiting room, we found out that my womb is the loving home to an 11-week-old fetus.

Even though I'd had about ten positive pregnancy tests (yes, I realize I am slightly neurotic) and have been puking for weeks, it's still somehow shocking to see that little baby pop up on the screen during an ultrasound. When I had an ultrasound with Ben at about the same stage of pregnancy, he was bouncing all over the place. This baby was just kind of sitting there. I was a little concerned that it was okay at first, but the doctor assured me this was a healthy looking baby with a strong heartbeat. Maybe this baby will be more mellow than his or her older brother. Our little one will be arriving at the end of February.

My scanner was not cooperating, but here's a low-tech picture of our lazy babe.

Anyway, now it's time to move on to our next adventure: nearly 6 months after closing on our house, we are finally moving tomorrow. So the fun goes on . . .
