Don't turn your back

Cam had an early meeting the other morning so he was out the door at 6:30, leaving me with two kids who are not really morning people while I tried to get ready for work. Fun. I was hoping Ben would be content to watch cartoons in our bedroom while I took a shower. He apparently had other plans.

He happened upon a jar of Vicks Vapor Rub and went to town, covering himself from head to toe in vapor rub. He took special care to work it into his hair. Yeah for petroleum-based products with no child-safety caps!

Fortunately Danielle showed up and she was kind enough give him bath so I could get out the door.

Toof-less

This kid has been such a great baby. He's been so mellow and lovey (most of the time) and I'm convinced he is going to be my peaceful child (knock on wood).

And how 'bout this toothless grin.

Love it.

Hoppy Easter

I'm a couple of weeks late on this. Just forgive my sporadic blogging.

I was really quite pleased that I managed to get my kids, my husband, and myself dressed and out the door in time for 9:00 church on Easter morning. It was a bright, sunny day and I expected to see families walking to church in all their Easter finery, but there was no one on the street. Weird. Then we pulled up in the church parking lot and there was not a single car there. Not one. Cam and I looked at each other and wondered what we had missed (and why we were apparently the only ones who missed it). We figured the likelihood that church was canceled on Easter Sunday was slim, so it must be Stake Conference. Bingo.

Good news: We were an hour early for Stake Conference and we actually got a seat.

Bad news: Ben barely gets through an hour and ten minutes of Sacrament meeting without a total freak out, so the freak out clock was already down an hour by the time the meeting started.

Worse news: They were dedicating the new stake center at the end of the meeting, so there was only one session of Stake conference.

Worst news: Our Stake is way too big to get away with only one session of Stake conference.

There were chairs in every nook and cranny of the building--every class room, the foyer, lining the halls, and even the stake offices. And I have a nursing baby so don't get me started on the mother's lounge. The collective body heat was stifling. Oh, and no sooner had the meeting started than Ben started freaking out (of course). Anyway, long story short, Stake conference was a bust. We endured an hour or so before Ben starting running through the halls (lined with people) screaming and knocking over easels displaying reminders for enrichment meeting or something.

We tried. This is the best Easter picture I got with both the boys.

I took these before church, thinking I'd try again when we got home. Unfortunately, when we got home Ben was in the advanced stages of a freak out.

Attitude

Ben seems to have developed opinions about what he wears and when he wears it. This is problematic in my mind since I'm kind of a control freak. I mean, I knew the day would come when my kid was not going to be cool with letting me dress him, but I thought I had more time.

At present he is particularly enamored with this lovely hat. I'm actually okay with this one.

The hat that is. I'm not so cool with the binky, but I'm picking my battles at the moment.

However, this wardrobe selection is another story.

Ben absolutely INSISTED on wearing his dinosaur jammies all day the other day. ALL DAY. Like, he hit the roof when I tried to change his clothes. So ultimately, he won. It was a sad day for me.

It was also a cold day so I managed to get some baby legs on him. Socks were another battle, but I managed to show him who was boss on that one.

I think on some level he knew he looked like a baby fool.

Stubborn child. I wonder where he gets that from . . .

Que Benção!

Well, we blessed little Davie. He wore the same blessing outfit Ben did (handcrafted by my mom). He's a serious cutie and a serious fuzz-head. We love him.

And we love his little clown feet.

This little guy isn't so bad either--even though he was less than cooperative that morning.

Birthday bash

Ben turned 2 a few weeks ago. It was perfect weather that day and Ben, I think, enjoyed the festivities.

He was a little uncertain about all the attention he was paid before cutting the cake.

But he got over it and dug in.

He also had quite the haul when it came time to open presents.

I think Lizzy was feeling a little left out.

Good thing her birthday isn't far behind Ben's.

And it's definitely going to be a while before Ben can ride that bike unassisted. His 2 year well check confirmed that he's a serious shorty--3d percentile for height and weight. At least he's proportionate.

David's Blessing

We will be blessing David on Sunday, March 29. Friends and family are invited to attend and stay for brunch after our sacrament meeting (our meeting is at 9:00 a.m.). Please leave us a comment if you need directions to our chapel and we'll email them to you.

Here are a couple of pictures of Davie after his bath this morning. They are posted largely for my mom's benefit, but everyone can feel free to enjoy ;)
